How does one clean house without losing pieces and parts of ones life? When moving, distance can be irrelevant. The miles being traveled are sometimes nothing compared to the emotions and nostalgia that creeps out when boxes are opened and closed. Moving is mental and emotional exercise-- with the attic void of household goods, our blessings are before us in each room. right now our house is a fire hazard- a hoarder's dream. mark sustained our first injury as he bashed his knee on a tv while whisking through the living room in the dark. this is quite the life lesson-- in a world where our culture of consumerism has fallen on families like smog in philadelphia, mark and i are fighting back in our quest to find simplicity--

Hi Alisa and Mark, great blog.

Yes it is mental and emotional exercise. As exhausting as running a marathon, I imagine. But good for the soul and the closets!!!
I am so proud of both of you and eventhough you will be missed more than words can describe enjoy the adventure. You are reaching a milestone in your lives, both individually and as a couple. We will all be waiting to read and hear and see all your adventures. And we will be waiting patiently for your return home.
I love you both. Mom

To say the least i am proud of you and mark... I watch the two of you after every separation and I am amazed at how strong you both are...you are undeniably a force to be reckoned with.... as sappy as this is, I get overwhelmed by a warmth when i think of the two of you in japan. If there are two people in this world that i know will make the test of time and distance it is you! You look after each other even when you are apart...and that is going to be what holds you together. Know that there are 3 people in FLO-Town that love and miss you very much.... keep well and know that you both are in my thoughts and prayers everyday!
LOVE YOU
